Plus-size Fashion Week Africa (PFWA) held a press conference on August 8, 2017 to announce its maiden edition of the runway show which focuses mainly on plus size models and outfits.
The conference commenced with the spokesperson for the PFWA Yetunde Ogunnubi introducing the Creative Director for the show, Mr Sola Oyebade who enlightened the participants on what to expect and the goals of the event.
Plus size influencers present at the event were Adekunbi Kuye, Taje Prest and others spoke on their support for the fashion show.

The event is scheduled to hold on saturday, 2 September 2017 at the Main Banquet Hall of the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The fashion week will feature runway shows, exhibitions, business talks, fashion enterprise on skills acquisition. The PFWA is aimed at maximizing the growing focus of the plus size fashion industry and also the promotion of the African culture. This maiden edition is themed: “Celebrating the real African woman”.
This show will feature over 20 designers who will take the stage and exhibition spaces to showcase their designs made for the plus sized woman.
There will be competition at the event to search for “Africa’s next plus-sized model”. Successful participants at the auditions will grace the stage at the PFWA and will also be signed, trained and developed by JPKingdom’s modelling division, Golden Curvy Agency.
The Plus-size fashion week Africa intends to destigmatize the body humiliation of the Plus-sized woman and encourage them on the need to be comfortable in their skin and body irrespective of what the society believes.
