Ovation Green Carol 2016 : The Glitz ,Glam And Razzmatazz
The atmosphere was more than turbocharged, the audience superlatively dressed and the event hall exquisitely decorated. These marked the prelude to the grand celebration the Ovation Media Group dished out to the public when the Ovation Carol hit the Lagos fun seekers recently.
Sponsored by the communication giant, Globacom Group, which gave the environment the green and white colours it showcased, the event hosted the best of the society’s socialites, hot musicians, dancers and a host of other entertainment buffs including the President of the Republic of Ghana, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba; Minister of Transport, Hon Rotimi Amaechi, King Sunny Ade; CEO/Managing Director, Mr. Kennedy Uzor among many other wonderful dignitaries.
The event, which kicked off properly at 8:30pm with the proverbial green carpet, was hosted by prolific Nollywood practitioner and politician, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) and Ovation TV’s pretty face, the sexy Daala Oruwari.
With artiste after artiste setting the stage on fire, the crowd couldn’t but ask for more. From the ‘I don get alert’ crooner, Korede Bello to Reekado Banks to the ebullient Simi with her JAMB question and Olu Sax as well as Abiodun Koya, whose melodious voice left a mark on the audience. The group, Cameo, a special import from the United States of America, was full of energy, dishing out hit sound after hit sound from their album, reliving the days of the future past.
The hall experienced a turn around with the arrival of the man behind the mask, the Publisher and CEO of the Ovation Media Group, comprising Ovation International Magazine, Ovation ONTV and the Boss online Newspaper, Bashorun Dele Momodu. A show stopper, Momodu showed why he is the first name in entertainment broadcasting and celebrity hyping.
Among the major highlights of the evening was the induction into the Ovation Hall of Fame of the President of Ghana, John Mahama as well as a post humus award to OJB Jezreeel, who died of kidney related ailment on June 14, 2016. OJB was a friend of the Ovation house.
In his speech acknowledging the awardees, Bashorun Momodu described Mahama as a pan-Africanist, who has done so much for the African nation in general and Ghana in particular. He also described the late OJB as hard worker, who took Ovation as his own.
The fun continued with the performances of Nigeria’s sex symbol, Flavour, who thrilled the audience with his super songs, getting the crowd on their feet, who danced until the performer left the stage.
As if that was not enough, King Sunny Ade’s scintillating and one in town performance climaxed what was already a grand night. At 70, Sunny Ade performed like a young man of 25, moving his body with the ease of a toddler. He was magnificent.
The show ended with the performance as networking resumed.
